5 ESSENTIAL LIFE QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK YOURSELF
The ability to self-reflect is one of the greatest gifts bestowed upon us by God. This powerful introspective tool allows us to pause, look inward, and sincerely evaluate our lives.
Self-reflection is akin to gazing into a mirror and asking ourselves, “Is this truly where I am supposed to be?”.
This is a crucial moment to assess whether our current journey aligns with our dreams, purpose, and values, or if there’s an opportunity for growth and improvement.
As Lamentations 3:40 states, “Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord!” This encourages us to reflect and identify areas needing attention, change, or nurturing, and then seek the Lord’s guidance to evolve in to a better versions of ourselves. This practice will protect you from succumbing to the pitfalls of deception or being led astray. It’s not about harsh judgment, but rather gently guiding yourselves towards intentional, purposeful living.
I will be sharing 5 questions I think every woman should ask herself.
Whose voices am I allowing to influence my life
Just because someone says something that sounds reasonable doesn’t mean you should take their words to heart. The world full of voices vying for attention, all eager to shape your thinking, but it’s very important to be selective about who and what you allow to feed your ears.
Consider carefully the voices and ideas that fill your mind, whether they come from a podcast, a movie, a book, an advertisement, or even a pastor. Take out time to ask yourself; Who are your teachers? Who are your mentors?
Sometimes, when I absorb too much information online, it becomes overwhelming— like they are noises. And in the midst of that noise I can hardly hear my own voice. I start to feel like I’m in a boat without an oar and I start to feel like I’m drifting, letting public opinions steer my life instead of choosing my own path.
I hope we each commit to making conscious decisions about the influences we allow in our lives, so we can navigate life with intention and authenticity.
Is there a better way I can spend my time
People often say that time is money, underscoring its value and importance. But truly, time is life itself. Like many, I sometimes feel there aren’t enough hours a day. Working, daily meal prep, household tasks, and endless appointments consume so much of our time, leaving little room for what matters most.
Now is the time to pause and realign priorities. Some things are urgent but not important, while others are important but not urgent; it’s up to you to distinguish between them. Take a look at your schedule—are you giving the important things the attention they deserve? Examine your habits—are there changes you need to make or new habits to introduce? Use your time wisely, because life is moving fast.
Are my finances in order
Getting your finances in order is always a good thing, especially for women, because sometimes your financial stability can become a key source of your leverage. However, many of us don’t prioritize it until a major life event like a wedding, the birth of a child, or even a natural disaster motivates us to act.
Think of the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14–30, where some individuals invested their talents and multiplied them, while others buried theirs. It’s the same principle with our finances.
if your finances are not in order, consider how else you can maximize your time and resources. Taking intentional steps toward financial stability.
How can I effectively nourish my body
Always remember that your body is the temple of the Lord, deserving of care and respect. Whatever goals you want to celebrate, challenges you need to face, or plans you hope to accomplish, staying healthy is essential to achieving them. The body endures so much daily, and it needs care and nourishment.
If you’re already eating well, keep it up; if not, make those changes. Staying fit isn’t about your shape but about maintaining strength and vitality. Prioritize drinking plenty of water, eating fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly, avoiding processed foods, and limiting sugary drinks. Give yourself the energy boost you need to live fully and thrive for years to come.
Am I growing
Growth is a natural part of life, so don’t allow yourself to stay stagnant. I’m talking about personal growth—how we behave, think, plan, perceive, and live every day. With each passing year, we’re guaranteed to grow older, it should also be a guarantee we would have grown up.
Personal growth doesn’t always happen all at once; it can be seasonal, focused on different areas, and progress at varying rates over time.
Don’t be like those who settle and say, “This is just who I am; I can’t be better.” Instead, evolve.
Embrace learning, unlearning, and relearning. Take on more responsibility, read widely, and most importantly, look within to identify the areas where you need to level up.
I want to be better, we have to be better and this life must count for something deeper.
